Lingu@Tor TM is a multimedial author platform for browser environment, specially designed for e-learning packages. It is the result of various European research projects and of the intensive collaboration between CTL-Uhasselt (Centre for Applied Linguistics at the hasselt University, www.uhasselt.be/ctl) and Brainlaine (www.brainlane.com, Genk), spin-off of EDM (Expertise Centre for Digital Media), the research centre of the Hasselt University in Diepenbeek.

Lingu@Tor TM is the ideal way for an enterprising teacher/ lecturer to put the exercises hitherto made on paper in an attractive and varied electronic environment with a view to presenting the problems discussed in a constantly changing setting. As such, he can project the world inhabited by his students into the exercises: a digital photo camera and Lingu@Tor TM suffice!

Being in constant progress, this wonderful platform already includes 20-odd exercise types, which can assume various other forms with the help of some creativity (Click here for a demo):

  • gap-it: cut and paste (text, sound, picture)
  • cloze-it: type a word/ text
  • dump it: various elements are combined by cut and paste
  • list-it: an element from the list is dragged to its proper place
  • comb-it: choose from the roll
  • translate-it: with a correction tool
  • spot-it: an element should match an item (e.g. names and entities)
  • dialog-it: making sentences and comparing to the chosen model
  • sort-it: putting elements in the right order after hearing
  • pronounce-it: record your own voice and check

There is ample room for report and feedback.
